Andrew Garfield was born in Los Angeles, California, to a British mother and an American father. At the age of 3, he relocated to Surrey, England, with his family. Garfield’s heritage includes English and Polish Jewish roots. Raised in a middle-class family, he attended a private school and began exploring acting through youth theater productions. At nineteen, he enrolled in the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
Garfield’s professional career initially flourished on stage. His television debut came in 2005 with a role in the Channel 4 series Sugar Rush. He subsequently appeared in various television programs, including a two-part story in the third season of Doctor Who, and also ventured into film.
