Andrew Garfield Mini Biography

Andrew Garfield was born in Los Angeles, California, to a British mother and an American father. At the age of 3, he relocated to Surrey, England, with his family. Garfield’s heritage includes English and Polish Jewish roots. Raised in a middle-class family, he attended a private school and began exploring acting through youth theater productions. At nineteen, he enrolled in the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

Garfield’s professional career initially flourished on stage. His television debut came in 2005 with a role in the Channel 4 series Sugar Rush. He subsequently appeared in various television programs, including a two-part story in the third season of Doctor Who, and also ventured into film. His breakthrough roles were in The Social Network (2010) as Eduardo Saverin and Never Let Me Go (2010) as Tommy.

In 2012, Garfield took on the iconic role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the rebooted film franchise, reprising the character in its sequel. He later passed the mantle to Tom Holland. Returning to more dramatic roles, Garfield starred in 99 Homes (2014), Hacksaw Ridge (2016) about war hero Desmond Doss, and Silence (2016). His performance as Doss earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.

In 2017, Garfield portrayed Robin Cavendish in Breathe, a drama directed by Andy Serkis. He followed this with the noir thriller Under the Silver Lake (2018).
