The Jumanji reboots (Welcome to the Jungle and The Next Level) were honestly such a fun surprise. I didn’t expect them to work this well, but turning the old board game into a video game setup makes the whole adventure feel fresh.
What you’ll love is the cast— The Rock, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan absolutely kill it. Watching them act like teens stuck in adult avatars (and later even playing confused grandpas) is hilarious. For me, that mix of action, comedy, and heart is what makes these perfect when you just want something light but entertaining.
Here’s a cool bit: Jack Black said he basically channeled his inner teenage girl by watching Teen Wolf and listening to John Mayer to nail Bethany’s voice.
Black Adam was a total passion project for The Rock, and you can feel it. He’s not playing your standard superhero. This guy is angry, vengeful, and follows his own rules. That edge is what makes it different from the usual DC stuff.

Based on the old-school arcade game, it throws The Rock into the middle of city-leveling madness alongside his giant albino gorilla buddy, George. Together, they’ve got to take down two other mutated beasts tearing through North America.
It’s loud, it’s ridiculous, and that’s the point. What actually surprised me, though, was how much heart there is in the bond between Johnson’s character and George— it gives the film a little emotional punch between all the explosions.
Some cool Trivia: to make it feel real, Johnson actually worked with primatologists and even learned American Sign Language to “talk” to George on screen.

He’s a sarcastic riverboat captain who teams up with Emily Blunt as a scientist and her brother on a wild trip through the Amazon to find a mythical tree with healing powers. Why You’ll Love it
This one’s a big change of pace for The Rock. Instead of his usual larger-than-life action roles, he’s playing real-life MMA legend Mark Kerr— a fighter who was unstoppable in the ring but battling addiction and personal demons outside of it. Directed by Benny Safdie, the movie goes heavy on character and emotion, not the flashy sports-movie spectacle we’re used to seeing him in.
