Emily Blunt’s Mini Biography

Emily Blunt- Best of Stars- OTT Junkie

Emily Blunt’s career has been all about range. A London kid who broke out in The Devil Wears Prada (2006), she’s been flipping genres ever since.

She went dark and intense in Sicario (2015), then turned around and gave us the heartbreak and terror of A Quiet Place (2018, 2020) with John Krasinski. But she’s not all intensity— she’s just as natural in light-hearted musicals like Into the Woods (2014) and Mary Poppins Returns (2018).

Then there’s the blockbuster side: Edge of Tomorrow (2014) with Tom Cruise, swinging through chaos in Jungle Cruise (2021) with Dwayne Johnson, and most recently, going toe-to-toe with Oppenheimer (2023) as Kitty Oppenheimer.

Emily Blunt doesn’t stick to one lane either. She keeps switching it up, and every time, it lands.

Below is the list of 10 Must-Watch Emily Blunt Movies & TV Shows

Why You’ll Love it

Man, A Quiet Place had me frozen. That whole no-sound thing? Brutal. I kept thinking that if I even crunched on popcorn too loudly, the characters were done for. That’s how the film grasps you into its universe.

What I love is how it’s not just monsters and fear. It’s really about this family trying to survive together. You see the love, the fear, the sacrifices, and it all feels real. The second part pulls you deeper into that world without losing what made the first so good.

Oppenheimer

OTT JUNKIE RATING

Why You’ll Love it

Oppenheimer is a biographical thriller that feels huge and personal at the same time. Christopher Nolan throws you straight into the head of J. Robert Oppenheimer, and the way the story jumps around keeps you locked in. It’s tense, it’s heavy, and it really makes you sit with the weight of what he created. I found myself a part of the whole process as if I were there in real-time.

The acting is insane. Cillian Murphy was literally born to play Oppenheimer! He looks and feels like a man carrying the world on his back. And then there’s Emily Blunt as Kitty. She doesn’t just play the supportive wife, she comes in with fire and pain that lifts the whole second half. If you’re into history mixed with intensity and raw human messiness, this is your film.

Sicario

OTT JUNKIE RATING

Emily Blunt- Sicario- OTT Junkie

Why You’ll Love it

Sicario doesn’t play nice. From the start, it throws you into the drug war and just leaves you there. You follow Emily Blunt, an FBI agent who signs up thinking she’s about to help clean things up. But nope. She ends up in something way darker, way more brutal. I remember sitting there feeling the same thing she did— lost, tense, like nothing around me could be trusted. That’s the energy the whole movie runs on.

The people she’s stuck with only make it more intense. Benicio del Toro barely has to open his mouth to be terrifying, and Josh Brolin walks through it all with that cocky calm that makes you hate how confident he is. With Denis Villeneuve running the show, every desert shot feels endless, the score pounds heavily, and you’re just trapped in it. Honestly, that’s what got me! It’s not just tense while you’re watching. It sticks.

The Fall Guy

OTT JUNKIE RATING

Emily Blunt- The Fall Guy- OTT Junkie

Why You’ll Love it

The Fall Guy feels like a big, loud thank-you to stunt performers, and it’s such a blast to watch. You’ve got Ryan Gosling as Colt Seavers, a stuntman trying to find his way back after a brutal accident, and the setup alone pulls you in. I loved how it leans into all the wild action but still makes you care about the guy under the explosions.

Then there’s Emily Blunt as Jody, and she’s just perfect here. She plays a first-time director stuck between her messy feelings for Colt and the chaos of a missing movie star. She brings both sharp comedy and those emotional beats that hit harder than you expect. And honestly, the best part is the chemistry between Gosling and Blunt. It’s electric, it makes the whole mix of rom-com and action work way better than it should.

The Devil Wears Prada

OTT JUNKIE RATING

Why You’ll Love it

The Devil Wears Prada is honestly just peak fashion drama. You’ve got this young journalist who suddenly ends up working at a high-fashion magazine, and the whole thing feels like survival mode. The outfits, the deadlines, the stress— you can feel it all piling up. Watching it, I kept thinking, “yeah, I’d probably quit in a week.”

Everyone raves about Meryl Streep (and she’s insane here), but it’s Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton that kills me every time. She’s overworked, sarcastic, and somehow still loyal to the madness. Every line she throws out lands perfectly; sharp, funny, and painfully relatable if you’ve ever had a boss who made you want to scream. She brings the laughs right when you need them.

Looper

OTT JUNKIE RATING

Why You’ll Love it

Looper is one of those sci-fi thrillers that messes with your head in the best way. The whole idea of “loopers”— assassins taking out people sent back from the future is already wild. And then you’ve got a guy like Joe, who suddenly has to kill his older self. That twist flips everything, and it keeps you glued.

But what really makes the film land isn’t just the time-travel or the action— it’s the human side. That’s where Emily Blunt comes in as Sara, a single mom trying to protect her son on a farm. She adds this raw, grounded weight to all the chaos. You feel the stakes through her, and it stops the story from just being clever sci-fi. It makes it personal.

The English

OTT JUNKIE RATING

Emily Blunt- The English- OTT Junkie

Why You’ll Love it

The English is a Western, but it doesn’t feel like the ones you grew up seeing. It’s slower, moodier, and it actually hits you emotionally. You’ve got Emily Blunt as Lady Cornelia Locke, out for revenge, and Chaske Spencer as Eli Whipp, a Pawnee scout who just wants his land back. When they meet, it feels random, but then you realize— they kinda need each other to survive.

The look of it blew me away. The landscapes feel endless. Big skies, empty ground, and somehow it’s beautiful and scary at the same time. You feel how harsh that world is. The writing has a rhythm, but it doesn’t feel fake or forced. And the way Blunt and Spencer play off each other? Slow at first, then it just clicks. You buy into it completely.

Edge of Tomorrow

OTT JUNKIE RATING

Emily Blunt- Edge of Tomorrow- OTT Junkie
Image Source: Screenshot from Edge of Tomorrow – Official Trailer 1

Why You’ll Love it

Edge of Tomorrow is wild. Picture Groundhog Day but with aliens blowing everything up. Tom Cruise isn’t some action hero here— he starts as a guy who has no idea what he’s doing, then suddenly he’s stuck in a time loop. He dies, wakes up, fights again. I swear, after a few repeats you start to feel like you’re stuck in it too.

The best part though? Emily Blunt. She’s the tough one, the warrior, the person who makes you believe they actually have a chance. Every scene with her feels sharper. She’s intense, she’s focused, and she balances Cruise perfectly. Their chemistry keeps it fun, even when the action is brutal. It’s smart, it’s fast, it’s a blast. That tagline isn’t lying— Live. Die. Repeat.

Mary Poppins Returns

OTT JUNKIE RATING

Emily Blunt- Mary Poppins Returns- OTT Junkie

Why You’ll Love it

Mary Poppins Returns just makes you feel good. Simple as that. You’ve got Michael Banks, all grown up now, and his life is a mess. Then boom— Mary Poppins floats back in like she never left. Watching Emily Blunt take over the role is so much fun. She’s funny, strict, playful, all in one. You still feel the magic of Julie Andrews, but it’s clearly her own version.

The movie is bright and joyful. The animation scenes look gorgeous, the songs are catchy, and honestly, you’ll probably hum them after. Lin-Manuel Miranda as Jack adds a big spark of energy, too— he’s just fun to watch. It’s the kind of film you throw on when you want to smile for two hours, no matter what mood you’re in.

Jungle Cruise

OTT JUNKIE RATING

Emily Blunt- Jungle Cruise- OTT Junkie
Image Source: Screenshot from Disney’s Jungle Cruise | Official Trailer

Why You’ll Love it

Jungle Cruise is just chaos in the best way. Think Indiana Jones. Think The Mummy. But way sillier. Dwayne Johnson is the smug boat guy, cracking jokes, and Emily Blunt storms in with her big plan about a magical tree. Her brother’s there too, mostly complaining, and it turns into river fights, weird creatures, and total madness.

The part that sells it? Johnson and Blunt together. They bicker, they tease, they keep the whole thing alive. You feel like you’re just hanging out with them while everything explodes around them. It’s not deep. It’s not serious. It’s just an adventure movie that lets you switch off and have fun.

Emily Blunt’s Upcoming Movie

The Smashing Machine

Emily Blunt- The Smashing Machine- OTT Junkie
Image Source: Screenshot from The Smashing Machine | Official Trailer 2 | A24

Why You’ll Love it

This one hasn’t dropped yet, but I’m already curious. Dwayne Johnson playing Mark Kerr— an MMA legend who fought as much outside the ring as inside— feels so different from his usual stuff. The look, the prosthetics, the early talk about it… It all screams heavy, raw, and not the usual polished sports movie.

And with Emily Blunt as Dawn Staples, it’s even more exciting. The idea of her and Johnson tackling something this dark together has me hooked before release. Add Benny Safdie behind the camera and you just know it’s going to feel intense, maybe even uncomfortable in the best way. Honestly, I can’t wait to see how far they push this.
