So here’s the thing My Oxford Year isn’t the kind of movie that’s gonna blow your mind, but if you’re in the mood for a cozy romance with a bit of heartache, it’s a good pick. I watched it for Sofia Carson (obviously), and she’s fun to follow as this driven American student whose plans get flipped upside down by a local guy at Oxford.
What I liked? The vibe. Oxford looks stunning. Those colleges, the Bodleian Library, all of it. It’s like you’re walking around campus with them. It’s about a young woman who, after losing her mom, stumbles back on this childhood list of goals and decides to actually go for it. You’ve definitely seen Purple Hearts pop up on Netflix. It was everywhere for a while. The setup’s simple: Sofia Carson plays Cassie, a musician trying to make ends meet, and Nicholas Galitzine is the soldier she marries just for convenience. And yeah, it doesn’t stay “just for convenience” for long.
The story’s nothing new, but the two of them make it fun to watch. The fights, the sweet bits, the whole back-and-forth…it works because of their chemistry. Plus, Sofia’s on the soundtrack too, which gives it that extra little kick.

Carry-On throws you right into the kind of thriller that never lets up. Taron Egerton plays a TSA agent who gets blackmailed on Christmas Eve, forced to let a dangerous package onto a flight. Jason Bateman shows up as the passenger pulling the strings, and he’s way more menacing than you’d expect.
Sofia Carson’s in the mix, too. Not leading this time, but as part of the TSA crew, stuck in the middle of it all. You notice her in those tense beats where everything’s going wrong, and it gives the movie a little balance.
And obviously, another fun fact: the whole thing was shot on a single soundstage dressed up as an airport, which is why it feels so boxed-in and intense.

The Descendants trilogy became a full-on Disney Channel phenomenon, and honestly, it’s not hard to see why. The movies follow the kids of Disney’s most iconic villains as they get a shot at redemption by going to school with the children of heroes. It’s colorful, over the top in the best way, and packed with songs that will stay in your head long after the credits roll.
Sofia Carson shines as Evie, the stylish and clever daughter of the Evil Queen, and the cast’s chemistry makes the story way more than just a fun concept. Their friendships feel real, which is why fans connected so hard.
And here’s a bit of trivia: when “Descendants: The Rise of Red” came around, the original cast chose not to return. After the passing of Cameron Boyce, who they considered family, they felt it was better to let the series continue without them.
Feel the Beat is one of those feel-good movies that’s easy to throw on. Sofia Carson plays an ambitious dancer chasing Broadway dreams, until things go south and she ends up back in her hometown. That’s where she’s stuck, coaching a group of kids who have no shot on paper….and of course, that’s where the real story kicks in.
It’s light, it’s funny, and the dancing is genuinely SO fun to watch! The kids add plenty of chaos, and Sofia makes the whole thing click as she shifts from arrogant to actually caring.

If you were into the drama and secrets of the original Pretty Little Liars, the spin-off The Perfectionists is worth a look. Alison and Mona are back, this time in a college town that looks perfect on the surface but obviously isn’t. Another murder, more secrets, same addictive vibe.
Sofia Carson shows up as Ava, a stylish, ambitious student who’s hiding plenty herself. She slips right into the mystery and makes the new cast feel sharper. It’s twisty, it’s messy, and it keeps you guessing.

If you loved the live-action Descendants movies and just want more time with the villain kids,Wicked World is a cute little add-on. It’s an animated short-form series that picks up right after the first film and connects the story to Descendants 2. The episodes are super quick, light, and all about the villain kids adjusting to life at Auradon Prep.
Sofia Carson returns to voice Evie, and even in animated form, she keeps the same charm and wit that made the character a fan favorite. It’s not heavy drama— just fast-paced, funny, and full of friendship moments that fans will appreciate.
Oh, and a fun bonus: four original songs that never made it into the main movie soundtrack appear here, making it a little extra treat for fans.
If you’re into Disney Channel throwbacks, Adventures in Babysitting is an easy pick. It’s a remake of the 1987 film, which also had two totally opposite babysitters. Same idea here, just brighter and way more family-friendly.
Here it’s Sofia Carson and Sabrina Carpenter at the center, total opposites, and that’s where half the fun comes from. The arguments, the chaos, the random sweet moments… It’s all in there. And yeah, classic Disney ending with teamwork winning out.

If you’re into those modern, musical spins on fairy tales,A Cinderella Story: If the Shoe Fits is a cute one to stream. Sofia Carson takes the lead here as an overworked assistant who sneaks in an audition for a movie musical, and of course, that’s where the romance and chaos start.
The movie leans into catchy songs, flashy dance numbers, and a lot of lighthearted fun. It’s simple, easy to watch, and a good showcase of Sofia doing both acting and singing.
A fun little detail: the director, Michelle Johnston, was also the choreographer, not just here but in the earlier Cinderella Story movies too, so she’s been behind some of the franchise’s biggest musical moments.
